EducationUC Santa Barbara - BS, Physics
ExperienceI have a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of California Santa Barbara. During my time in school, I was a physics and math tutor at the Campus Learning Assistance Services. I provided one-on-one help several hours per week to students in lower-level physics and math classes. I also led extra sessions for linear algebra, differential equations, and introductory physics. After graduation I began to tutor chemistry and test prep. I taught students of many different education levels, ranging from high school students to college graduates who were prepping for the GRE. One of the most enjoyable parts of tutoring for me is helping students with subjects in the physical sciences and math because I love the awe that students feel when they make connections. I also really enjoy helping students learn the ins and outs of standardized tests. I like to tutor with a bottom-up approach, in which I help students learn the fundamentals before we move on to other concepts. I prefer not to focus on memorization in my tutoring sessions. In my free time I like to hike, sail, and read books. All of these are connected to my need to understand how the world works. One of my favorite quotes was said by Dorothy Parker: "The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity."
HobbiesHiking, sailing, and reading books.
